Interpreting Portraiture Collections
Schools
- Create a non-linear structure for interpretation so different small groups can begin their visit in different parts of the room to avoid having 30 pupils all in one place
- With hands-on interpretation either provide sufficient multiples for a group or brief teacher clearly beforehand that some children will need to watch while others take part
- Ensure text and exhibits are large enough for a group to access them
- Content of school visits is closely related to the requirements of National Curriculum. For further information and links see the toolkit 'How to develop learning programmes and audience engagement with portraits'.
